Elsa Meisburger

After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, and Environment at the Université de Haute Alsace (France), Elsa continued her studies at the University of Geneva. There, she obtained a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, with a specialization in Climate Change, as well as a Certificate in Geomatics. She discovered a true interest in natural hazards throughout her master’s thesis, which focused on the quantitative assessment of rockfall risk along a main road in the Zermatt valley, with regard to nonstationary conditions.
Elsa is now a research assistant with the C-CIA team, contributing to The HuT project. Her work focuses on disaster risk reduction through the implementation of nature-based solutions. More specifically, her role is to evaluate the added value of protective forests against gravitational hazards, using tools such as quantitative risk assessments, rockfall modeling, and cost-benefit analyses.
