Nicole Swaney

Nicole is a PhD candidate at the University of Geneva’s Institute for Environmental Sciences (ISE), specializing in climate change and its impacts on public health. Her current research examines the intersection of extreme heat events and human health in Switzerland, focusing on how these challenges are being integrated into policy frameworks. As a Research Assistant for the TRIGGER project, Nicole’s work centres on evaluating heat risk management systems with an emphasis on addressing climate-driven health risks for vulnerable populations.
 
After earning her bachelor’s degree in International Business in 2018, Nicole embarked on an international career in Communications and Copywriting. Driven by a commitment to environmental issues, she transitioned into the field of Environmental Sciences, completing her master’s degree at the University of Geneva in 2024. Drawing on her interdisciplinary background, Nicole combines her strategic communication skills with her environmental expertise, effectively bridging the gap between science and public engagement on critical issues.
